There was a shooting at Price Middle School in Southeast Atlanta this afternoon.

Atlanta Fire told WSB's Jon Lewis, that a 14-year-old was shot in the head. According to officials, the shooting happened because of bullying and occurred outside of the school.

Channel 2 spoke to the mother of the student who said that the bullet grazed the tissue at the back of the head. The student is awake and talking and according to Atlanta Public Schools should be released tonight.

Superintendent Erroll B. Davis, Jr. said a parapro has been injured, but was not shot. She was trampled when the students ran after hearing gunfire. Chief Turner confirms that the armed School Resource Officer disarmed the suspect and took him into custody.

Parents invaded the scene as police and the principal assured them that the children were safe inside the cafeteria. Some parents said they received phone calls from students from inside the school that one student just opened fire.

The students were dismissed from the school as normal in an orderly fashion. They were taken to Emmanuel Baptist Church to be released to their anxious parents.

All students are now at home and with their families.
