Walton County, GA —

A Gwinnett County sheriff's deputy is charged with driving his patrol car under the influence after hitting an embankment on GA. 81 at Double Springs Road and overturning several times around 1:20 Wednesday morning.

Sheriff's Deputy Robert Christopher Matt, 27, left the scene and was later found at his home in Bethlehem. His passenger, Katie Lynn, 27, of Lawrenceville was found wandering around the scene injured and was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment.

Matt sustained cuts, scrapes, bumps and bruises, and was taken to the Walton Co. Jail and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, open container and failure to maintain lane.
