Atlanta Red Cross ready to assist Northeast

By Daphne Young

Atlanta —

Emergency management teams and utilities along the East Coast are bracing for what could be a $1 billion nightmare, with Hurricane Sandy.

From Florida to Maine, the Red Cross is putting shelter locations, trained disaster workers, vehicles and supplies on alert as they await Hurricane Sandy.

Over the weekend, the Red Cross began mobilizing chapters all across the nation....  and Atlanta is expected to assist in the effort.

Ruben Brown, Media Relations Specialist with the Atlanta Red Cross says the Atlanta Red Cross has emergency response vehicles that will be mobilized from Union City to head up north and help canvass neighborhoods and provide snacks and meals to people as they begin the recovery process.
