Hall County Sheriff's Office investigators have arrested 18-year-old Tiffani Torres of Flowery Branch in connection with a social media incident that occured at Flowery Branch High School Monday.

According to the sheriff's office, officials were called into Flowery Branch High School on Monday when Torres allegedly posted on the social media site, Instagram, that there was going to be a shooting at the school.

The threat resulted in half the Hall County school leaving campus.

"There's gonna be.. we're gonna shoot up the school.  There was something, a general term like that.  But anytime you get a threat like that, of course we take it very seriously," said Hall County School Spokesman Gordon Higgins.  

Higgins tells Channel 2 Action News nothing was found to validate that it was anything other than Internet chatter.

Student Rebecca Swenson says 1,000 students left the school with parents' permission.

"Everybody was freaking out about it.  Like half the school is gone," said Swenson.

Parents say in light of what happened in Connecticut, it is better to be safe than sorry.

"I've always felt safe with my children being here.  But a threat like this, I guess you just never know who you're dealing with,” said the parent.

Torres  is charged with one count of Disruption of a Public School and has been booked into the Hall County Jail where she remains under a $1000 bond.
