Alpharetta, GA —

Webb Bridge Road was closed for part of Friday morning after a Ferrari crashed into the woods off the road.

Police said the 18-year-old driver, Akshay Panducherry, and his 21-year-old passenger, Harshavardhan Patlolla, were able to crawl out of the car, near Alpharetta High School.

Both men were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious burns.

“The vehicle itself is totally destroyed,” Alpharetta Police spokesman George Gordon said. “It went completely up in flames and it basically is not recognizable as a vehicle at this point.”

Police said they believe speed was a factor in the crash, which happened just before 4 a.m. on Friday.

Police said the car was too damaged to immediately determine the year and model of the car.

Some Ferraries are capable of speeds of more than 200 miles per hour.
