Atlanta City Council members are expected to vote this week on whether or not to increase their salaries.

This latest proposed increase would add about $20,000 to council member's salaries.

Currently council members make about $39,500 and the raise would bring their pay to about $60,000.  The City says these latest raises will help to attract top talent and they would become effective after the 2013 election.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed has gone on record saying he does not want a raise and adds he would most likely veto the measure when a vote comes before the Council.
