SW ATLANTA —

An Atlanta police officer remains in the hospital after being shot in the face Friday evening in southwest Atlanta.

Investigators say Officer Reggie Robinson, 35, was questioning a man on Victoria Place near Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard about reports of a drug deal when the suspect ran away. The man also began shooting as he fled, and one of the bullets struck Robinson in the face.

“He was able to communicate to a degree with the responding officers,” Atlanta Police spokesman Paul Guerrucci tells Channel 2 Action News. “But a gunshot to the face is always serious.”

Police say an arrest has been made in the shooting, and the suspect had a gun on him at the time of the arrest.

Robinson is said to be in stable condition at Grady Hospital.
