Another Cobb County teacher is in trouble for having an illegal relationship with a student. In this case, the suspect is a math teacher at McEachern High School.

Terence Tarpley, 33, is accused of having sex with a girl who was his math student and on sports teams he coached. Even though the girl was over 18 and the relationship took place outside of school, Tarpley was charged felony sexual assault.

“Under the statute, it specifically mentions the word ‘teacher,’” explained Cobb Police Officer Mike Bowman as he pointed to the law under which Tarpley was charged.

Although the charge was filed Thursday, court records show the two had sexual relations January 8th. Detectives are now trying to determine whether Tarpley had sexual relationships with other students.

“Investigators are asking that anyone who feels they may have been victimized by Terence Tarpley come forward and contact the Crimes against Persons Unit,” said Bowman.
