3 more APS educators face firing for cheating

By Jay Black

Three more Atlanta elementary school teachers have found out they will be the next to go in the school system’s cheating scandal.

The Atlanta Public School district notified the educators of plans to fire them in letters sent last Friday and Monday.

The AJC reports, the three educators worked at from Parkside and Usher Collier Heights. Donald Bullock, of Usher Collier Heights, is accused of making test available to teachers so they could change answers.

Selena Wyatt and Terance Shipman of Parkside Elementary are accused of verbally prompting students to change incorrect answers on state exams.

The district has now taken steps to terminate 19 educators. About 110 educators remain on leave. APS is paying about $1 million a month, but is trying to resolve the cases by the end of the school year.

Hearings will be held in April and May for educators who receive charge letters and want to fight for their jobs.
