New photos of suspected rapist with violent past

A suspected serial rapist being sought by Gwinnett County Police has a violent criminal past.

Joseph Sivonda was released from Dooly State Prison in November after serving less than seven years of a 10 year sentence for armed robbery.

He and his brother Kevin were convicted in 2006 of robbing two cab drivers at gunpoint.

Sivonda is now wanted for robbing and raping at least three women he met on an adult website.

"His charges back then were kind of a similar M.O. in that he was calling the victims and having the victims come to where he was," says Cpl. Jake Smith.

He tells WSB's Sandra Parrish that Sivonda has two distinctive tattoos, one on his neck that says "India" and the other down his forearm that says "Joseph".

Police believe Sivonda is still in the metro Atlanta area since he has family here.

"We recommend that everyone consider him armed and dangerous," says Smith.  "We don't know for certain that he's carrying a firearm with him, but he was obviously reported to have these firearms with him during the commission of these crimes."
