Cobb County police said they are searching for a gunman after an officer was shot Friday morning.

Cobb County police said the officer was on patrol at the Concord Chase apartments when he spotted a suspicious man just after 1 a.m. The man started running, and whenthe officer was chasing him, the man turned around and shot the officer, police said.

Police said the officer is in good condition and his bullet-proof vest did play a factor.

Nearby residents received code red calls describing the gunman as having a dark complexion and short hair with twists. The call said he was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and khaki shorts.
