Isakson believes Atlanta is ready for July 4

The Boston marathon bombings will not disrupt this year's Peachtree Road Race.  So says U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, who believes local, state and federal police will be ready on July 4th.

"You don't leave a single I un-dotted or a T uncrossed," Isakson says.  "You don't leave a manhole cover left unwatched or a trash can alone on the side of the street."

The marathon bombings, which killed three and injured hound reds more, has increased security at all outdoor events, including the Peachtree.

Some 55,000 runners will take part in the world's largest 10k, with another 250,000 lining the 6.2 mile race route.

Senator Isakson says the bombings in Boston just reinforce the idea that Americans will not knuckle under to terrorists.

"We have to remember that the terrorists' goal is to get us to be afraid to go outside of our homes," he says.  "Every time we have an event safely, every time we hold a safe Peachtree, like this year that will be one more message to the terrorists that we are not afraid."

Isakson says the two bombers who targeted the Boston marathon did so for one reason; because they saw it as safe.

"They picked what they did to put Americans in fear and cowering in their houses." says Isakson.  "Well, we're not afraid and we're not cowards.  We don't fear terrorism, but we've got to be prepared for it and make sure we're doing everything to make sure our people are safe."
