Gwinnett woman charged with animal cruelty

A Gwinnett County woman is facing animal cruelty charges after authorities serving an eviction notice found six dead cats.

Sheriff's deputies were serving the notice to Lila Brennan at her Ozora Road home in Lawrenceville and "observed a great deal of fecal and urine matter from animals," spokeswoman Shannon Volkodoav to Channel 2 Action News.

The cats were found in the garage, without food or water.

Three dogs were discovered alive in the backyard. Their coats were matted, but they appeared to be otherwise healthy.

Neighbor Gregg Baggley watched as deputies and officials with Animal Control arrived at the home.

"Anytime you see something like that, you just know that they’re dead animals or animals hurt," said Baggley.

Brennan faces six animal cruelty charges.  She has been released on bond.
