Gwinnett County, GA
Gwinnett citizens interested in county government may soon get a chance to shadow their county commissioners.
With the success of the citizen police and fire academies, Commission Chair Charlotte Nash wants to create the Gwinnett Citizens Academy.
“We just think it would be a good thing to be able to offer members of the community who are interested a chance to get up close and learn more about county government,” she tells WSB’s Sandra Parrish.
Nash says details must still be worked out regarding when it would begin and how many citizens could join.
The commission must first, though, approve the $250,000 appropriation in next year’s budget.
