Firearms to be allowed on GreenBelt trail

The city of Carrollton drops its objections to guns on the GreenBelt.

Carrollton's city council votes unanimously to change city ordinances and eliminate the language restricting firearms on the GreenBelt trail.  Parade participants will also be allowed to carry guns.

GeorgiaCarry.org sued the city last summer, challenging those provisions.  At the time, the mayor vowed to take the case to court. Now, he points to the new state law expanding Georgians' carry privileges and says the city will no longer contest the lawsuit.

The Times-Georgian newspaper reports six miles of the GreenBelt have been completed. Eventually, it will extend for 16 miles.
