A Cobb County student is being transported to the hospital as a precaution after he was hit by a car while catching his school bus. It happened just down the road from Baker Elementary.
Officer Scott Luther with the Kennesaw Police Department tells WSB's Sandra Parrish the boy, likely 12 or 13, suffered scrapes and bruises after he stepped into the path of car that was slowing for the bus.
"Once he started turning on the lights and the stop sign was on its way out, apparently that's when the child stepped off the curb thinking the car was going to stop and that's when the car struck him," he says.
Luther says at the time the bus was stopped in the turn lane on Baker Road at Stonegate Drive facing northbound and the car was headed southbound as it prepared to stop.
He says charges could be pending in the case
