More jobs coming to Atlanta

Cobb County is getting some more high tech, well-paying jobs.

A lot more.

Infosys, is a worldwide technology consulting company which already has more than 300 employees in Cobb County.  But that's changing.

"We have decided to add more than 200 local jobs here in the next fiscal year," says Infosys Vice President Sandeep Dadlani.  That fiscal year begins in April and runs through next March.

Infosys operates in over 33 countries and has, globally, some 155,000 employees.

Applications are now being accepted for the new jobs.

"These are highly skilled jobs," says Dadlani, "Mostly in the areas of healthcare processing, financial processing, mortgage insurance processing, customer service, technical help, procurement and so on."

Dadlani says the jobs are well paying even though he would not say exactly how much.

In addition to these jobs, he says Infosys is looking to expand further in metro Atlanta over the next few years, bringing more jobs into the area.

Dadlani says there were several factors that convinced Infosys to stay and expand in the Atlanta area.

First and foremost, he says, is Hartsfield-Jackson Airport, which allows Infosys to connect to their other offices across the globe.

Dadlani says another reason the company is planning to grow in metro Atlanta are schools like Georgia Tech, Southern Polytechnic State University and Kennesaw State.  He says the company is working with local colleges to help train potential high tech workers, giving Infosys an instant talent pool from which to hire.

In addition to Atlanta, Infosys has a delivery center in Des Moines, Iowa, part of the 19 Infosys locations throughout the United States.
