Georgia's rate of uninsured children drops

Fewer children lack health insurance coverage in Georgia.

According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the number of kids in Georgia without health insurance is down from 11.5 percent in 2008 to 9.4 percent in 2012.  More children are covered by Medicaid or PeachCare.

Still, Georgia has the tenth-highest rate of uninsured children in the nation.  The report points to a drop in coverage through parents' employer-sponsored health plans, reflecting a national trend.

These numbers were compiled before enrollment under the Affordable Care Act.
