Will gridlock spell trouble for incumbents?

Happy with the way things are going in Washington? If your answer is "no," you're in the majority.

"There's just a general unease that the leadership in Washington, DC – on both sides of the aisle – just isn't getting it done," says WSB political analyst Bill Crane, who believes gridlock on Capitol Hill could leave incumbents vulnerable come the next election.

But whereas Crane is hesitant to cast blame on either major party, a new NBC Wall Street Journal poll shows Americans blame Republicans for the shutdown much more than Democrats – by a 22-percent margin (53- to 31-percent). And by an eight percent margin, those questioned want Democrats in control of Congress come the next mid-term elections.
