A former Clayton County Schools teacher is in jail after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Roderick Winslow Arrington was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with child sexual exploitation, sexual assault of a person in custody or school, and possession of a weapon at school, according to court records.
Arrington, 29, was dismissed Monday from his teaching job at Drew High School in Riverdale, authorities said.
“Roderick Arrington is no longer employed with Clayton County Public Schools,” Clayton schools spokeswoman Vicki Gavalas said in an email to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We are taking all appropriate and necessary steps to assure that the situation is handled effectively and to ensure the welfare and safety of our students.”
Arrington was in court this morning before a judge who denied him bond, according to court records.
