Of course, one of the few stores open in Conyers during the storm gets robbed.
Conyers Police Spokeswoman Kim Lucas tells WSB there were three employees working at the CVS on Highway 20 when a man came in just after midnight, Thursday, and headed straight for the cash register. Armed with a gun, he took the money and left.
"Officers responded as quickly as they were able but due to hazardous conditions... and one of the officers, actually a Sgt. trying to respond... The tire chains actually broke and came off his vehicle. That delayed him further," said Lucas.
Lucas admits their primary focus the past few days was the weather.
"We were concentrating on the hazardous conditions, trees down, and accidents and things of that nature," said Lucas.
By the time police arrived, the suspect was long gone.
"We were hoping for some good tracks as he left on foot; however, there was so much pedestrian traffic in that area, there was just no way to determine which footprints were his," said Lucas.
