The Buckhead Coalition has had enough.

In response to some recent, high profile crimes the coalition has decided to offer a reward to help catch some robbers.

"We're going to offer a reward of $5000 each," says former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell.  "Franky a good tipster will make more money that any perpetrator."

Massell, who now heads the coalition, made the announcement while flanked by Major Van Hobbs, Commander of the Atlanta Police Department's Zone 2.

"We believe there is some connectivity," Hobbs says.  "Vehicles that were seen at one location were seen as the trail cars at another location."

While the crimes have been high profile, Hobbs does not believe they have been as widespread as people might think.

"It turns out to be just a few people causing us all these issues," he says.

The $5000 will go to anyone with information that leads police to arrest, and convict, a robber.

And while the crime rate has remained steady, or even has fallen in some places, police say the nature of the crime has gotten more dangerous.

It began with car break-ins, then moved to robberies.  Hobbs says now the crimes include kidnappings in which the victim is forced to go to an ATM to withdraw cash.
