ATLANTA - One woman is in custody after a bank robbery at the Sun Trust branch on Mars Hill Road around 11 a.m. Monday.
“The suspect showed a demand note and with that demand note there was the possibility that there were some explosives,” said Cobb Police officer Michael Bowman.
Bowman said 39-year old Ancily Green of Dallas fled the bank in a dark-colored SUV. She was spotted moments later by a police officer who saw her run a stop sign. After several officers tried to stop the vehicle, the woman took off at a high rate of speed.
The chase was on.
It ended on I-75 southbound at Mount Paran road when Green’s SUV overturned, police said.
Because of the threat of explosives, all lanes of the interstate were shut down for well over an hour while an explosives-detecting dog and the bomb squad searched the wrecked vehicle. In the end, nothing was found.
Green is now being held at the Cobb County jail.
