COLLEGE PARK - Grief counselors will be at Heritage Elementary School in College Park on Monday to help students deal with the death of a classmate.
A 6-year-old boy was killed Sunday night when he darted into traffic and was struck by an SUV.
The accident happened on Old National Highway at Jolly Road in south Fulton County.
Accident investigators do not plan to file any charges against the driver. The victim, whose name has not been released, was with his 16-year-old brother. Neither was in a crosswalk.
The siblings had just been to a barbershop across the street from their apartment complex. Andy Griffen, owner of the Infamous Barber Shop, told Channel 2 Action News the victim and the female driver that hit the boy were regular customers.
“He jerked away from his brother,” said Griffien. “It was instant.”
He said more cross walks are needed along Old National Highway.
