CDC: More American able to pay medical bills

Fewer Americans say they are having a problem paying their medical bills, according to a new survey.

In the first half of 2012, 20.3 percent of those under of the age of 65 admitted they were struggling to pay for doctors’ visits, dentist visits, hospitals and therapists. That’s down 1.4 percent from the same time in 2011.

The report from the Center's for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics finds that during January 2011-June 2012 people under 65 who were uninsured and those who had public coverage were about twice as likely as those who had private coverage to be in families struggling to pay medical bills.
