Canton Police are on the lookout for a would-be kidnapper who may be lurking along Reservoir Road. One woman is telling officers she barely escaped her encounter with him.
The woman, whom police did not identify, said she was walking along a remote stretch of Reservoir Road about 10:15 Thursday morning when she was accosted.
“A man came out of the wood line. She said he had a handgun and threatened to abduct her,” said Canton Police Officer Pacer Cordry.
But the woman didn’t freeze.
“She crossed the road, flagged down a passerby driving a vehicle. She got in that vehicle and called 9-1-1,” Cordry said.
The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-30s, wearing a long-sleeved burgundy shirt and possibly armed with a handgun. Cordry told WSB’s Pete Combs the search is on, with extra officers now patrolling Reservoir Road.
