Woman accused in west Cobb murder-suicide was longtime KSU employee

The woman accused of shooting and killing her husband and then herself in a west Cobb County parking lot was a longtime employee of Kennesaw State University.

Paula Strange, 54, of Kennesaw, served as assistant director of research compliance for the University for more than 10 years, KSU posted online Saturday.

“Kennesaw State officials express sincere condolences to those impacted by this tragedy, and stand ready to assist those University employees who may desire support,” the University said in its online statement.

The shootings happened Friday afternoon in the 3600 block of Dallas Highway near Due West Road, Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb police said. The location is a Kroger shopping center.

Both the man and woman died at the scene, Pierce said. Late Friday, the two were identified as Bruce Strange, 52, and Paula Strange, 54, both of Kennesaw.

Crime tape circled a portion of the parking lot, but the store remained open after the shootings.

Witnesses told Channel 2 Action News the man was on the sidewalk talking to a woman in a Honda Element just before the shooting. He started yelling, “Please don’t do it,” then was running.

Paula Strange had filed for divorce in May from her husband, Cobb County Superior Court records showed.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call Cobb police at 770-499-3945.
