Don't worry, we'll keep this article short.
A new book shows just how short our attention spans have really become.
According to Joseph McCormack's new book, "BRIEF: Making a Bigger Impact by Saying Less," the average American attention span has shrunk from 12 seconds in 2000 to just eight seconds now.
It also says people need to get to the point fast online. We get over 300 e-mails per week, and almost half of us lose interest in a long e-mail within the first 30 seconds.
And over 30% of us tune out co-workers within the first 15 seconds of talking to them.
The book claims the average American also checks his or her smartphone 150 times a day.
