(WSB Radio) Some parents who faced jail time for not taking their kids to school are off the hook. The parents took advantage of an amnesty program offered by the Dekalb County Solicitors Office.

The parents were accused of not only not sending their kids to school, the parents did not show up for a court appearance after they were charged.

Twenty parents took advantage of the offer of a promise that no one would go to jail if they showed up for the court hearing. Most of the parents were given a chance to resolve the charges against them with a form of probation.

It is called Consent Hold and requires the parents to take responsibility for getting their kids to school. If they complete 6 months with no problems they can come off the probation.
