(WSB Radio) -- This years number one preseason ranking for the Georgia Bulldogs is more than a source of pride. The Bulldogs could also finish number one in revenue.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that Georgia ranked third in the nation for the 2006-2007 season taking in $59.5 million and could rake in between $70 and $74 million this year.
During the 2006-2007 season, Georgia ranked behind Texas, which had won the nation title the previous season, and Notre Dame, which has its own national television contract that pays a reported $9 million.
Georgia will take in a bit over $16 million from ticket sales this season but another $26 million comes from the ticket priority program.
Ticket priority is the score awarded for each dollar donated to the William C. Hartman Jr. fund. The score is used to determine seat assignment and relocation requests, in the rare event better seats open up.
