Author of the best selling book 'The Savage Nation' (30 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List), Michael Savage is the number one drive time talk show host in the San Francisco market and in many other cities across America. He is currently syndicated on over 350 stations.

"I guess people love my show because of my hard edge combined with humor and education," he says. "Those who listen to me say they hear a bit of Plato, Henry Miller, Jack Kerouac, Moses, Jesus, and Frankenstein. I pull many of my life experiences, including that of father, son, husband, brother, ice cream factory worker, busboy, lifeguard, writer, scientist, and my huge library of books," says Savage.

Listeners also hear top-flight guests and hear literate callers with intelligence, wit, and energy, a benefit that a program like The Michael Savage Show attracts.

An independent-minded individualist, Michael Savage fits no stereotype. He attacks big government and liberal media bias, but champions the environment and animal rights. Trained as a scientist, he holds Master's degrees in medical botany and medical anthropology and earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in Epidemiology and Nutrition Science.

Savage created the phrase "Compassionate Conservative" in 1994. He has used this concept in his radio program and in conducting the first of four hugely successful Compassionate Conservative Conventions bearing that name in 1995. Savage has consistently drawn sold-out audiences to hear him live. For Savage, these words describe a "firewall of balance" that limits how far to the right his opinions go.

McCain is old politice. We need a change.Your comments about Obama's name is bad.Why don't you use your birth name. Are you ashamed of it.
  • changing the guards
Michael was one you didn't necessarily agree with all the time but he wasn't boring.
  • want Micheal back
I really miss the time I used to get to hear Micheal Savage, Allen Hunt is boring drive.
  • where is mike?
why is allen hunt on right now? allan hunt blows. put savage on now!
  • The rarest commodity...TRUTH,
Ive never met an individual in my life that I completely agree with on all subjects and never will. Savage is what he is-but one thing cannot be denied;he consistently seeks the truth. Since most people get their facts and agendas from mainstream sources like CNN, NBC etc., it's no wonder they've succeeded so very brilliantly at desensitizing Americans to whats at the core of the meltdown of this ailing nation. You can listen to Savage for one week and get more truth and exposure to critical issues that, frankly, almost no talking heads have the guts to cover or to share relative dialogue with an audience over. Sure he rants and yes he speaks passionately about certain subjects, but if you cant see that he loves this country and defends it on a nightly basis, then I'm sure there are others on the dial to appease your palate. Be careful to call for silencing of an individuals opinion because someday it may cost you your opinion as well.
  • Survivalist!
you may not agree with the man, but you have to admit, he brodcasts his veiws (which in case you have not noticed are VERY conservative) in a city of Liberal nutjobs who huff their own farts. Oh and don't blame the children who have autism, blame the idiot parents who pump them full of ridoline (causes autism) for staring off into space during government brainwashing classes, I go to these schools, and excuse me if I don't pay attention while Mr. Doers tries to "discipline" some moron who can't keep his pants up. I guess that means I have "ADD". The moron is the one that needs the drugs, not me.
  • autism
Again, do NOT lump autism in with ADD/ADHD. Those are discipline problems, not actual chemical imbalances. I don't agree with drugging these children either. But I do believe it's important to realize autistic individuals do not process reality the way others do. Hey, Savage, how about responding to these comments?
  • Savage is right too
I agree with Savage as well. I also agree with Judy Smith's comments above. Freedom of Speech people! This is America! Go Re-read the ORIGINAL American Constitution!
  • autism
autistic children are just brats who are putting on an act and Michael Savage is just pointless noise putting on the act of quality, worthwhile, educated radio. Do the proper amount of research before speaking, please.
    Fool.
  • Savage is right on the spectrum
Dr. Michael Savage was right about the austisic spectrum being used to open up a larger market for the continued drugging of our children. Schools need to tell parents to discipline your kids or keep them at home. I heard about one school that requires parents to spank their own kids in the principal's office. My Mom called it "applying the board of education to the seat of learning." Let's return to the days of yesteryear when the top problems our teachers faced in school was talking and chewing gum, instead of rape and murder.
  • Savage radio
I am so tired of hate radio. Michael Savage, Neal Boortz, and other hate mongers offer nothing but divisive rhetoric and right wing propaganda for their own interests. Savage's ignorant and hateful rant on the subject of autism, is the last straw for me. I don't harbor the belief that he is that ignorant about autism. The man has a PhD. He is capable of reading about the subject. He decided to use children for self aggrandizement, which should not be surprising since these people believe that only they personally are important. I probably won't be joining any boycotts since I already don't do business with any of the advertisers on his show, but I do plan to stop listening to every station that carries his hate filled program, and that includes WSB. It is a matter of indifference to me if you take him off or not at this point. I am not ever listening to your station again, and will urge everyone I know to tune you out.
  • autism comments
If this is the best WSB can find to put on the air then I'm more than happy to find a new station for my news and entertainment.
  • autism
Savage, you can call ADD and ADHD a cop-out if you want to, because honestly these ADD/ADHD kids just have no discipline. It's really just a parent's way to excuse himself from the responsibility of rearing a child properly. "Oh, he's just too hyper", they say. Hyperactivity is a behavioral problem, which is totally different from autism, which is an actual physical affliction. Your judgment of autism has no factual basis. How about reading up on it some before you spout your venom? I am a FORMER listener. I used to be mildly entertained by your show, but now I know you're nothing more than a bully shock jock. Why don't you call up the Autism Research Institute and tell them you've found the "cure" for autism. It'd save them a LOT of time and effort. You just tell all those parents of autistic children that their "brats" just need to "drop the act". You just solved a HUGE problem for many parents.
  • Savage and Boortz
The well paid provacatuers have help dumbed down america to the current state of our union. Both of these jerks hate each other and Brootz even promotes savage and the weiner nation. Savage is one pathetic bastard and Boortz is just another hatemonger who make lots of money by preaching the conservative gospel and now with this moron president my only question is when will people ask the question Reagan asked and that is "are you better off today then you were eight years ago'?
  • An absolute moron
This raving lunatic is a complete waste of air time. I have finally decided that my night-time driving is better served in silence rather than listing to the incoherent trash that spews from this baboon
  • Autism crybabies
Stop all your whining, Savage is right. The 99% was not supposed to be a true figure, hes a radio personality DUH!. Fact is most of the kids diagnosed with disorders such as Autism,ADD,ADHD,Bipolar ect, HAVE NO DISORDER AT ALL. It is lazy uneducated teachers, scum bag doctors and lazy parents that are drugging American kids. Both my sons were diagnosed ADD or ADHD one with Bipolar, and at one point a school psychologist told me my daughter was ADD. That was when my wife finaly listened to me and no more drugs were given to any of my kids. I was giving so much Ritalin as a kid that I was a zombie for years never happy or sad just BLAH. Get off your lazy butts and parent your kids, dont let schools and doctors ruin your kids life.I went to a doctor Doris J. Rapp around 1975. She got me off all meds I started getting straight A's and made friends. Get her book or SAVEGES BOOK, I am sure his is more up to date. Food dyes, preservatives and such are what most kids suffer from. Go Savage, he is allso correct about the illegal alien problem, go to NUMBERSUSA.COM and learn the facts.
  • savage is a moron
The autism comments are just the latest in his idiocy. I try listening to him, but have to turn him off after a few minutes because of his mindless rants. WSB should take him off the air for the autism comments but mostly because of about 99% of what he says. He is looking for attention and we are giving it to him. I hope the advertisers don't.

While I live with Autism everyday, I'm really not offended by his comments because I look at the source. I would have to respect him first before I coulc be offended.
  • Get Savage off the air
God! Can't WSB do better then Savage? Just get this trouble making, loud mouth, money grubbing slob of the air!
  • Give him a break!
Everyone on the air says something every now and then that could be construed as offensive. As much as I love Boortz, I thought his comment that "Patrick Swayze doesn't deserve any pity because he was an alcoholic/smoker" was incredibly offensive. There is very little research to link that behavior. My father nearly died from the same cancer and was neither a drinker or a smoker. All of that said, I hate that Savage has lost his 7pm time slot on AM 750! I usually am driving at that time and so loved his commentary on current events. I don't listen when the other guy is talking because I find him to VERY repetitive and boring. Dr. Savage stimulates my mind and I love him like a grandfather. Again, give him a break.
  • state both sides
the problem his stance on autism is not what he said it's what he left out. for example... that neurological disorders in children (of all types and severity) have grown rapidly in resent years. i don't remember the proper number but its not 99 out of 100 and it is an unusually high number. the social and emotional cost to a kid not getting the help he or she needs, to me can justifiably Warrant the spending of any amount of money. plus the lining up the blocks is only one test of many in a series of tests and as such is only one factor in determining what person may have. i say this as a person at the age of seven was told i have bipolar and at at a time a lot thought kids could not have bipolar. anyway my take on mr. Savage's statement is that the meds they prescribe for these disorders can have some sever side affects. my meds are prossed in the liver and such i can not drink without damage to my liver. lastly there are some phd's out that are only out to make a buck but most are good people. to rap it up mr. savage you have a lot of influence so when making a point "state both sides"
  • Autism
The comments on Autism demostrated poor taste, and ingnorance. Michael Savage needs to go. I have two children, one with autism and one without. Both understand and behave well for me. One cannot be educated in public schools because of the autism. The other is doing fine in school. Now, you cannot tell me I'm a "bad parent." My older child without autism is well mannered and well liked at school. Also, my autistic son is learning run the technology for worship services on Sunday morning at our church. Yes, my autistic son has aspergers and can talk but he has trouble with sensory input. Don't tell me you know what it is like to walk in my shoes. I and my husband have degrees too, and so do the others who diagnose autism. We'll just find out who your sponsors are and encourage them to drop you.

  • Savage's "out of context" argument/defense is completely bogus
Savage's "taken out of context" argument is completely bogus. Out of context indeed! I listened to his show last night and he knows absolutely NOTHING about Autism and ASDs. He can't possibly argue that he is trying to protect and defend kids with this disorder, because he is completely and utterly ignorant on the subject. Furthermore, he demonstrated absolutely no interest in being educated on the subject by his two guests, Wendy Fournier of the National Autism Association and Dr. Stephen Camarata of Vanderbilt University. He just took bits and pieces of their statements out of context to support his (ridiculous) opinions. I am boycotting sponsors of his show.
  • Get this show off the air.
Michael Savage's comments regarding autism are inexcusable and irresponsible. I'd like to think my favorite news/talk station will make the right decision and excise this tumor from their on-air schedule as responsible stations across the country have already done.
  • Support of Savage
HE HAS THE GUTS TO TALK ABOUT WHAT NEEDS TO BE OUT IN THE OPEN. HE NEEDS TO BE ON EARLY SO THAT MORE CAN HEAR HIM.
  • Autism - Please take Savage off the Air
Savage’s comments on autism last week had no factual basis and revealed a hateful prejudice against seriously handicapped children. He stated the following:
“I’ll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don’t have a father around to tell them, `Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.”
My cousin has two autistic children, and I can assure you, these precious children suffer from a serious brain disorder, which has nothing to with a lack of discipline or lack of a father figure.
As best stated by John Pitney in a National Review Online article this morning, “Screaming insults at a handicapped kid is not child-rearing. It’s child abuse.”
Savage does not deserve the opportunity to speak on WSB. His show should be removed immediately.
  • Autism
I encourage all to listen to who's advertising on this show and keep in mind that it is these people who are supporting this disgusting talk.
  • Autism
I agree with Michael, Kids today have no discipline at home or school.Whatever happened to freedom of speech ? If Hollywood and the media don't agree with the talk show host, they go after them to be fired. Michael should not be fired, he should be complimented for his view, which hundreds of people agree with him.
  • Autism
What is wrong with you? Do you think calling children names is going to help? You obviously have no idea how do deal with children aside from bullying them! Autism is a medical problem that families deal with every day. It is hard, but we deal with it because we love our family members and want them to have the best life possible. You are a jerk and a bully who wants to make himself look better at the expense of children with a disease....how pathetic.
  • Take Savage off the air
WSB- please remove Savage from the air. The autism thing took things too far, and supposedly Savage has a degree in epidemiology which means he should understand public health and diseases. This ignorant man gives a bad name to your radio station, and the fact that he is played in Atlanta gives a negative connotations to Atlantans. Please remove him.
  • Autism
I live with autism in my family as well. You know what talk show hosts are? They are brats that have not been taught manners by their fathers. Where has decency gone in America?

Here is an idea - how about Dr. Savage apologize for his comments. Until he does, I will not listen to any radio station that broadcasts him period. Freedom of speech does not mean we have to listen.
  • Autism
I thoroghly disagree with Mr. Savage. As a family member with an autistic child, I recommend he live with a family of an autistic child for a week. Then maybe he will learn to think before he opens his mouth. These children and their families suffer terribly. Autism is very difficult to deal with on a daily basis. He is still living in the dark ages and he is ignorant. I will no longer listen to the show.
  • Autism
While it's remotely possible that Autism is over-diagnosed, that certainly isn't the parent's fault (as you seemed to indicate in your outpouring of idiocy)... That would generally be the doctor's fault for diagnosing it. Not the parents. As for people diagnosed with it, where do you get off calling kids with autism uncontrolled brats throwing tantrums? I have a sister with moderate autism, and it's a horrible thing to hear some idiot call her that. How would you know, though? Have you ever met anyone with autism yourself? Have you seen what parents have to go through to make life even semi-normal for their other children, nevermind themselves? Good god, I hope there is a petition somewhere I can sign to get your program suspended until you apologize for spewing your idiocy over the air. What a shame. I normally liked listening to WSB... but I think I'll survive without for a while.
    -------------
As for the... person... posting below me (Lori @ 7/22/08 12:37:12 AM), I would comment that for a long time, the only way my sister could communicate her displeasure when told "no" was to "freak out" as you put it. Why? Well, she certainly couldn't argue back with words. It was the only way she knew of that she could disagree - kind of like a little kid. Regardless, you are certainly not a doctor, please don't try and apply your medical expertise to everyone else.
  • Autism
My child with autism understands the word NO very well and responds to it appropriately. So, he can't communicate with me because I never told him no? What BS. I'm sure the bad parenting gave me a normal 2nd child also, right? Autism is a neurobiological disease. It is totally different than ADD. You idiots should do your homework.
  • Autistic - ADD - ETC...
I very much agree with your point on this subject. In 1990 I had to tell the Kindergarten teacher exactly that - "you are not a doctor and I will sue you if you try and diagnoise my daughter again". to which she replied "if she had diabetes you would treat her" and I said "the sign above the door says SCHOOL not DOCTOR - I never put her on Ritlin and I have never regreted it and she is 23 now. I like that you have the guts to say what people think and know but are scared to say. I know people with "autistic" children who just have never been told the word NO so when they hear it - they freak out.
  • Herman vs Michael
When will you put Savage back on at 7 PM and move Herman 'FairTax is all I talk about' to a later time slot? I'd like to see how Herman's show does compared to when Savage was on at 7.
  • All you have is name calling
I catch a piece of your show and I've noticed a pattern with you. With all the degrees you hold and, with all the intelligence you have. You resort to name calling like my 5yr old. That doesn't make you smarter nor does it make you tough. If you want to impress
me take your show on the road and
do it in front of a live audience.
I would pay money to see where it
gets you. This would be the part
of your show where you would
call me a liberal or something to
    that effect, but that doesn't
phase me. Well because I'm not a liberal
    in fact I'm not affiliated
    with either party the jackass
or the elephant. I stand by
    the ideal of Washington political
party's will ruin this country and they have. the rich get richer and the poor gets it in the hind parts. If your ever
in the mood to do a road tour let me know I'll be first in line for the viewing of the beat down.
    and, they have.
  • Your July 11 show
Your show was AWESOME on Friday, July 11. I must say I was absolutely SHOCKED to hear someone of your stature talking about the CORRUPT FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM.

Please, though, investigate the connection between the Federal Reserve and the unjust, undeclared Iraq War.

    Thanks,

    Tara

7/7 heard your comments with '6 cylinders'. could you list these changes needed on your web. GO MIKE GO ! Great show !
  • Comment
Dr Savage, I'm of hispanic heritage and I couldn't agree with you more on everything, and yes even on illegal imigration. I've meet many of this individuals over the course of my life and they admit that the're not here to learn the "anglo" way of life, they don't want to learn how to speak, read, and write english. Most just want to have kids so that the child becomes a citizen and therefore opening up governments assistance to them. I've seen how they just abuse Wellfare, Tax credits, you name it and there's a good chance the've done it. Ever since I discovered you by accident, today it's a pleasure to listen to you. I now am a devoted listener. Dr. Savage you say out loud exactly of what I'm thinking about everything and on top of that you give me REAL imformation so that my rational mind can make an honest, and rational judgement about everything that affects our everyday life. Thank You and keep up the good work. U are our leader as far as I'm concerned.
  • lighten up
Please keep all sharp objects away from his listeners. He is the MOST DEPRESSING radio personality in the country. Damn lighten up
  • Michael Savage
Thank God for you, we need more people like you who take a direct positive stand and help people wake up to what is going on in America.
  • u stink

  • Show Times
Mike, I began to listen to your show driving home from work at night. Many people listen to you, I brag about your show to everyone I meet. Keep up the good work. Please consider recording your books on CD.

God Bless you and your family.
  • Dr. Savage, I am very impressed with your knowledge and passion to point out to the wrong that you are here to show us whats really going on in the world. Thank you
  • You are an idiot
I listen to you and my stomach turns. You are such a homo-phobe, it's sickening. Your prejudice and hatred paired with your selfrightiousness makes you a true idiot. I mean really. Get a life. I listen to talk radio to get some insight because I know I don't know it all. It's a shame to see someone with the ability to reach someone, like yourself, waste it spreading hatred, when you probably do have some enlightening information in that small minded brain of yours.
  • Re: ThankYou!
Dr.Savage....just wanted to take this light moment to thank you for your insights & your great indepth knowledge about politics & life in general.
