For the most part, Patric Young was excellent in Florida’s first-round win over Northwestern State. He labored at the beginning, but finished with 16 points and nine rebounds during a 79-47 victory in Austin, Texas.
However, free throws continue to be problematic.
Young made 4 of 10 against Northwestern State after going 6 for 17 during the recent SEC tournament. His season percentage dipped to 48.8 percent.
Free throws have gotten progressively troublesome for Young, who hit 70.3 percent as a freshman, then 59.3 last year.
Collectively, Florida made 14 of 23 against the Demons. Minus Young, the Gators were at 76.9 percent.
Over the past four games, Young made 37 percent and the rest of the team hit 66 percent.
