Norfolk Tides 5, Gwinnett Braves 1
Norfolk and Gwinnett finished off a six-game stretch against each other that saw the Braves drop five of the six games. The Braves pitching was solid in the series but the offense scored three or less runs in four of the games. Joey Terdoslavich is starting to heat up with four doubles in his last four games. Two years ago in the Carolina League he set the league record for most doubles in a season with 52.
Jackson Generals 4, Mississippi Braves 4 - Suspended by Rain in 4th
The rain got this one. The recap will come when the game is finished.
Salem Red Sox 8, Lynchburg Hillcats 1
Hillcats starter Mark Pope got off to a rough start giving up seven runs in just two innings and the Red Sox didn't look back afterwards. James Hoyt did come in and throw four hitless innings while striking out six hitters. On the offensive sid of the ball all of the important players in the middle of the lineup (Beckwith, Hefflinger and Rohm) had decent nights but the hits just didn't line up to get much on the board, and the rest of the offense didn't pick them up.
Asheville Tourists 1, Rome Braves 7
In essentially the opposite scenario from Rome, the Hillcats go almost no offense from the middle of their order with only Marte collecting multiple hits and yet they still cranked out seven runs. Josh Elander continues to hit well for Rome and Felix Marte also got some swag back with his multi-hit game. Patrick Scoggin also put together a nice game. The undrafted free agent has been solid in his full season debut so far though he will need to put up good numbers against better competition.
