The deer is actually a decoy used by wildlife officials to trap poachers and it worked like a charm.
Police were hiding when a man pulled to the side of the road.
"He crossed a ditch and walked up toward the fence carrying a rifle," the police report says. "He placed the rifle on the fence to steady himself and shot at the replica.”
As soon as he did, cops scrambled out from their hiding places and he was arrested
Outside reports several states are using the new ploy including Utah, Georgia, and Pennsylvania.
Charges against the guy who shot at the bogus buck will be out-of-season hunting and shooting from a road.
“I’ve seen an individual shoot with a 30-06 and couldn’t figure out why it didn’t go down after he hit it five or six times. It can be really entertaining."
