BURNAWAY is offering a writing workshop to the students of Georgia State University as part of its ongoing series of writing workshops. These workshops are intended for emerging and mid-career artists and writers in Atlanta, as a way to provide them with hands-on workshops to develop their ability to write about art. Our workshops demystify the writing process and allow participants to share feedback with each other. We are offering an Introduction to Arts Writing. Our arts writing workshops focus on teaching artists, writers, and students about the history and techniques of arts writing.A report compiled by Creative Time in 2011 entitled, “Building a Thriving Artistic Community” wrote that, "More writing creates a greater visibility for the arts as a discipline. It enriches our shared cultural experience and creates platforms for audiences to learn about new work and discuss it in a public forum." These workshops are part of BURNAWAY’s larger mission to promote awareness and smart, engaged dialogue about the arts and further Atlanta’s role as a cultural hub for the Southeast. The workshop will be held in the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design Galleries, on the bottom floor of the Arts and Humanities building. Joe Peregine and Craig Dongoski's show, Ant Linkage will be on display there alongside John Hull: The Sporting Life.
