This special event is a fundraiser for Team HIDI.  The entire ticket price goes to support Ryan Hidinger's fight against cancer.  TWO DAYS ONLY: FEB 27 & 28.Read more about Team HIDI here!  You can’t face the world without your morning cup of joe. But don’t let coffee become just a caffeine delivery system. Rekindle that love of coffee with a tour of Batdorf & Bronson, the best coffee roaster in the Atlanta metro area – maybe the world! Bring your enjoyment to a higher level with knowledge about growing, roasting, choosing and (especially) brewing great coffee at home. And not only will you taste during the tour, we will send you home with a bag of beans so freshly roasted you won’t believe it!  While the employees of Batdorf and Bronson may not take themselves very seriously (a tiny figurine of Elvis stands in the center of the bean cooling tray), they take their coffee VERY seriously. Jason Dominy’s title is “Head of Bean Knowledgy”, and he’s the guiding light for the company with a growing list of fans (like us!). Jason wants you to drink coffee that will “rock your world,” even change your life and he explains coffee with as much reverence as information. It starts with the bean and a passionate concern with how the coffee is grown. To get the best beans, you have to pay a fair wage for sustainably raised coffee. Whenever possible, Batdorf and Bronson buys direct from the grower so they can guarantee how the beans are grown and that the farmers make enough to support their families and keep growing a quality product. It shows in the taste.  On this tour you’ll learn a lot: Where does coffee come from and how does it end up in those 120 pound bags stacked around you?How does a coffee’s origin affect its flavor? What do the words “fair trade” and “socially responsible” really mean (and are they important)? You’ll learn lots of geeky stuff too, like how the roasting process really works and why mastering this process is so important to a coffee’s flavor. We’ll visit the brewing lab, which is Jason’s special domain. Learn about dissolved solids, brewing time, turbulence, grind size, water temperature, and brewing methods affect the flavor of the final cup. But as Jason stresses, it comes down to taste. We get plenty of opportunities for that too! Everyone walks away with a half pound of freshly roasted beans, a head full of knowledge and we promise – an entirely new outlook on coffee. Not bad for a 2 hour tour! BTW, Batdorf & Bronson owns and operates Dancing Goats Coffee Bar in Decatur and Ponce City Market in the Old Fourth Ward, plus they supply some of the best coffee houses and restaurants in the Atlanta metro area.  FAQs(Frequently Asked Questions)How large are the tour groups? This special group is limited to 30.How much does a tour cost? The ticket price is $30 and all the money goes directly to Team HIDI. .What should I wear? This is an indoor tour of a coffee roasting facility.  So wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes.
